walks coordinator - found november 2016

Ann, the current Wessex Wanderer Ralway walks coordiantor is finishing at the end of this current season (2015) after 5 enjoyable and rewarding years.  This is a vountary role with a difference, which not only includes the walks BUT has the added interest of the Heart of Wessex Railway line as well, which runs between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth.  We are now in the  21st season, and the walks have gone from strength to strength, with a wide and varied programme.   The walks cover the 4 areas that the line covers of Avon, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, so leaders and walkers come from those areas.

Call Ann for further details and use the following link for further details of what is involved.

Walks coordinator requited - urgently

WALKS COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

If you are interested in the  role of Wessex Walks Coordinator, here are a few of the things that are involved and if you wish to pursue it further thenpleasse contact Ann (the current coordinator)  on 0117 979 8628

We currently produce one programme from mid-May to mid-October the organisation and can be done around work schedules etc with some deadlines.  The usual things apply to this role, interest in walking and train travel, enjoy communicating with people over the 4 areas of Avon, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire.

Most of the work can be done by e-mail but some of our leaders are not, so versalatilty and adaptability are key.  This role is not just another walking programme and involves lone working but the support is there for the right person.

Apart from the two posts of Treasurer and Walk Coordinator, the other posts are appointed for the purposes of the meeting only.

This role will suit someone who is a people person and has some understanding of how the Ramblers Association works at a local group and also at  area level, as well as understanding how the train system works.

Key jobs

Sorting out dates for the following season and encouraging leaders to put themselves forward for walks. Checking train times and walks details and getting  the programme ready for printing.  Helping with publicity, and programme distribution. Getting the statistics for the  walks over the season.  Time scales are involved

With the job is organising the end of season meeting (venue, agenda etc)

This is not a fully comprehensive list and is open to suggestions

I am happy to maintain the website and get the printing done for the programmes, and most of the distribution

Call Ann L (0117 979 8628)  no later than mid-September so that a meeting can be arranged to discuss the final details and it is hoped that the new coordinator will be available for the end of season leaders meeting which will be held on Friday 20th November 2015 at Maiden Newton, Dorset (using the village hall and lunch will provided at a nominal cost) - it would be useful if the new coordinator can come to this meeting

Lunch costs on Friday 20th November 2015 - £8.50 - this is provided by the cafe in Maiden Newton - coffee/tea and bisucits provided on arrival of the 08.41 train at Maiden Newton at 10.37
