walking ideas

If you enjoy walking in the areas of Avon, Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, then there are always various websites that you can look at for ideas for walking on your own.  In conjunction with using the Bristol to Weymouth Railway Line, various bus links then you may be able to do some of the walks by yourself or with others and please remember to buy a current map and take instructions of where you are going, as well as a compass and a mobile phone for emergencies.  Take a snack and drinks as there may not be any places en route.

The following website might give you some ideas and remember that areas do change over time.

Walking in Walking in England is a website with lists hundreds of walks, which can be downloaded and printed free of charge.

The website is www.walkinginengland.co.uk

It covers from the Isle of Wight to Northumberland and all places East to West and North to South.

Fantastic Website for walkers!

Walking in Dorset www.walkingindorset.co.uk  Walking in Somerset  www.walkinginsomerset.co.uk  and Walking in Wiltshire www.walkinginwilts.co.uk are websites covering the Wessex area and are packed with useful information for walkers.

With hundreds of walks to download and print, free, they also have books of walks, contact details for all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire (part of the Walking in England suite of websites – one for each county in England) have brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!
